Tom's Barn Cottages

Holiday Cottages Ashbourne.

From the outside - in spite of pots of flowers and brand new paintwork - Tom's Barn and Douglas's Barn don't seem to have changed very much since their more modest beginnings as cowsheds. Limestone farm buildings in the Peak Park don't immediately suggest a romantic atmosphere... Be prepared for a pleasant surprise when you step inside!

You can usually hear the short intake of breath as new guests go through the door. Couples of all ages find both Tom's and Douglas's Barns instantly warm, welcoming and definitely romantic, with very little remaining that would suggest their previous and definitely less romantic use apart from perhaps the odd nooks and crannies and quirkily angled walls.

Our aim throughout has been to make each barn the sort of place we would love to stay in ourselves (if we were so lucky!). No unnecessary frills or fussiness but everything you could possibly need to escape the stresses and strains of everyday life. We want you to feel relaxed and thoughtfully cared for, so you go home restored and refreshed, ready to meet the real world again.

You will find awaiting your arrival - as well as the welcoming tea tray and fresh flowers - a loaf of bread, a pint of milk, some butter and half a dozen freshly laid local farm eggs. You will also find flour, sugar rice etc and some herbs and spices. In the summer months you'll find a jug of fresh herbs from our garden in the kitchen. You should also find everything else, within reason, that you might possibly need (see Tom's Barn & Douglas's Barn pages for more detail). There are books to read, some DVD's and CD's, maps, walk books and some well-worn games.
