The Cyffdy estate dates back to 1293, with the existing house dated circa 1592, Grade II listed and recently lovingly restored by the current owners. Cyffdy House was once the home of one of Wales’ most famous and talented triple harpists, Nansi Richards.
The cottages, with a wealth of oak beams and vaulted ceilings, have all been recently refurbished, with particular care taken to retain their original character and charm. Stable Nook, Poachers Pocket, Beudy Brics and Shippon Roost form part of the historic Cyffdy Estate and are approached by a very quiet lane and private driveway, set in 6 acres. These delightful individual properties are spaced about 50 metres apart, whilst Hysbysfa nestles in its own ½ acre amid rolling fields of sheep yet within walking distance of the Town, Golf Club and Lake. Bwthin Meini and Glynrhedyn also benefit from being located in beautiful grounds. Nodyn y Nant is located near Llangollen.
These skilfully converted cottages offer a peaceful hideaway, or a base from which within an hour the beaches at Porthmadog, Barmouth and Aberdovey can be reached. The mountains of Snowdon and Cader Idris or shopping in Chester or Shrewsbury are popular. Explore the delights of Mid Wales, the Centre for Alternative Technology, Celtica, and a wealth of castles and lakes. Closer to home, Llangollen, Betws y Coed and the Slate Mines at Blaenau Ffestiniog or the Coed y Brenin Mountain Biking Trails at Dolgellau make Cyffdy central to whatever type of holiday guests are seeking.
The Cyffdy portfolio consists of eight superb properties - four in the beautiful secluded and historic farmstead of Cyffdy, Parc, three just a few miles away near to the bustling market town of Bala, and one near Llangollen.
Amongst the many amenities you can enjoy at Cyffdy Farm Cottages and Rural Venues we would like to highlight The Retreat and the Play Area.
The Retreat is a luxurious and comfortable self-contained function/dining room located within the main Cyffdy farmhouse. An ideal alternative to using the dining areas of the individual cottages when entertaining guests, or for use as a meeting room.
For our younger guests, the Cyffdy Timber Trail Play Area, constructed to RoSPA standards, provides endless hours of fun in the Cyffdy grounds. There is also a large paddock with resident goat and sheep, and sledges are available for winter holidays. A barn also offers shelter for wet weather play. To view more detailed information on the Cyffdy Timber Trail Play Area.
The local area is rich in wildlife, with walks from each cottage door. Bird watchers should note that Red Kites are sighted regularly and there is an RSPB Reserve at nearby lake Vyrnwy. The town of Bala is historically famous for being the birthplace of sheepdog trials. Bala Lake (Llyn Tegid), its Narrow Gauge Railway, the National White Water Centre (Canolfan Tryweryn), Bala Sailing and Golf Clubs are all within a few minutes drive ensuring a vast range of choice for quality leisure time.
